Found a busy bee in our garden 🐝

A beautiful bumble bee on my Leonurus cardiaca. It means “lion heart” because it is a great herb for the heart. Combine with Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) and it makes a perfect tonic for your ticker. The common name for this plant is Motherwort as it is also indicated for women’s reproductive organs.

Throw back time!

This is Jared painting on illuminated canvas while Dj Saint Chill spins smooth ambient tracks. This was back in 2009 at a live art performance in South Beach Miami. Those were crazy times 😉

St. John’s wort

This is my St. John’s wort I planted last year in my community garden. I planted it from organic seeds, under the new moon. The moons energy helps “pull” the seed from the ground as it waxes to full. I will be making a tincture from the flowers. When you use fresh flowers it turns the tincture red, and this is the “blood” of St. John.

“Hypericum perforatum, known as perforate St John’s-wort, common Saint John’s wort and St John’s wort, is a flowering plant in the family Hypericaceae. The common name “St John’s wort” may be used to refer to any species of the genus Hypericum. Wikipedia

Autumn 2015

The autumn harvest was collected. We went to Frecon Farms in Boyertown with some friends and got to pick an apple off the tree to eat it right there in the orchard. The juice was collected and Bang! Off we went to pitch the yeast.

We also bought a gorgeous sour sparkling cider (made on site) and a local mead that we will open this winter solstice when we light the birch Yule log.
