Indeed it has arrived, and so has our Elecampane flowers! Inula helenium is an amazing herb for so many reasons, but the main medicinal properties are for respiratory infections. In the fall the roots are dug up, and made into a tincture for this purpose. So now, we look forward to the autumn equinox, because the seasons are where the celebration is 🌞🌛

Found these little guys in the garden 🐛 eating fennel. We took them home 🏡 and let them form a chrysalis. A chrysalis is like a cocoon, but moths form a cocoon, and 🦋 butterflies form a chrysalis. Now we wait for them to emerge, and set them free in the garden 🙂. If you look close, you can see the caterpillar spinning the silk to begin the transformation.
